wHAt iS iNsuRgeNcY??!

Insurgency can be called or defined as a rebellion caused by the people of a certain state itself. In the beginning, insurgency is as quite as ghost because there is no one who really knows that an insurgency is coming. These organizations usually work quietly from below and suddenly burst out of nowhere. These organizations only takes people that they really belief in to be their main frame in their organization. Based on trust and causes, they can formed an organization to create jeopardize in a state. There is not a single way or specific military doctrine in going to war against an insurgency. This is because military were trained mostly for a conventional warfare and less for insurgency warfare.

Insurgency warfare is different from conventional warfare in their style of war. They usually hide themselves and only attacks when the right time comes. Their hideouts are often in the jungle or in villages that are far from people. This could help them to avoid from being caught by the authorities. It is irrelevant to go to war against them using a conventional warfare doctrine, but the best way to wars against them are by using the “minds and hearts” method. The ‘minds and hearts’ that we are talking about is the mind and hearts of all civilians and even the bandits. We must know what the causes are and we should take over the factor of their conflict.

The civilian plays an important role in providing logistics supports such as foods, medical drugs and intelligence information to insurgents. Insurgents will come to villages in certain timing to get all the logistics support. Their work will become easier if they have the civilians supports them in their fight. For weaponry, the insurgents usually would attack police stations to gain weapons and ammo for their weapon. There are two examples of insurgencies in south-east Asia, which were in Malaya and Vietnam. Counterinsurgents that were involved in Malaya were from the British government army and the one involved in countering insurgency in Vietnam was from the United State government military. Insurgency in Malaya was able to be neutralized but in Vietnam, the United State failed to prevent them. As the result, Vietnam until now is a communist state.
